Shoelace Eating Monster

*Warning: Sorry if this subject matter grosses you out. I'm not making you read it :)

Last night, after attending a Christmas party, we came home to a horrid site. Maggie, the shoelace eating dog, struck again. This time the victim.....Trey's sneakers. Poor shoes had already been attacked by her right after we brought her home from the shelter. Thankfully, she had managed to throw up the shoelaces before we got home. We didn't want to go through another long night of hearing her trying to get them up and chasing her off rugs and carpets and other hard to clean surfaces as we waited for the shoelaces to resurface. Unfortunately, she ate substantial portions of our rugs (yup...plural...both rugs) in the process of trying to make herself vomit. I guess it was the closest thing to grass she could find. Also, the only place that was suitable to yack was on three spots on the ivory rug. Big, ugly spots. Shag does not clean easy. It really doesn't clean at all. The shag rug was looking pretty pathetic with it's three piles of vomit and two bare spots. The dining room rug had it's own bald spot battle wounds. Anyway, Trey and I have absolutely hated the amount of hair balls our rug produced and we've talked about replacing it for a while, so now we had a good excuse to toss her out.

Trey went after it.

No survivors.

He got out the box cutter, cut the shag rug down the middle, and hauled her out in two pieces.

So today we hit all the Home Goods looking for a replacement and we are pleased with the final outcome. We're waiting for another one to be shipped from overstock for the dining room.

I thought I had escaped fighting the Christmas crowds.

All Smiles

On Dec. 10, when Reagan turned 7 weeks, we saw her first smile. Well, sort of a smile. It's more like a big open mouth. Day by day the open mouth is morphing into an all out smile complete with coos.

I had to doll her up in her cute hat to model the smile.
